Voluntary work can be a way of gaining valuable work experience, which in
some cases may help you achieve further qualifications.
You will meet new people and have a chance to be involved in your
community.
It can also increase your self-confidence, your skills and knowledge,
as well as helping others.
It can be included in your Record of Achievement (Progress File)
as evidence of out of school activities, and on your CV.
It can be useful when applying for jobs or courses. If you do
voluntary work regularly with the same organisation, your supervisor may be
willing to give you a reference.
As a volunteer you will have responsibilities and will have to
give commitment to the project you join.
