SYPHILIS

*

Syphilis is caused by bacterium and can show up in many different ways. Having said that, it can also be present with no symptoms at all. Close intimate contact and sexual intercourse, including oral sex can spread syphilis. Usual signs of syphilis are one or more round in shape and painless sores around the point of genital contact after about two or three weeks later. A painless non-irritating rash may follow some weeks later and spreads all over the body including the soles of your feet and the palms of your hand.

After this you may show no further signs of infection for years to come. This infection can have serious effects on the brain and nervous system and may cause problems with your heart, liver, bones, eyes and skin.

The treatment of this is very effective using a course of antibiotics. If you are worried about syphilis visit your local clinic for a blood test, the results will normally take upto one week.
