This commonly affects the urethra (tube in the penis), cervix (just inside the vagina), rectum (just inside the anus), and the throat. Can be passed on through anal, vaginal, oral sex and can sometimes be passed on by close physical contact. A lot of people will not show any signs of infection but you may notice a discharge from the vagina (Thin/watery or of yellow/greenish colour) or the tip of the penis (Usually white, Yellow or Green), pain when urinating and an irritation or discharge from the anus.
Treatment is usually effective with antibiotics and further testing after the all clear may be necessary.
Most people don't notice they have this infection until lasting damage has been done so when diagnosed you may need to contact people you have slept with in the last 6 months. But don't panic a doctor or nurse at the clinic will help you work out the best way to deal with this.
