If you've had sex without using contraception or think your contraception may have failed, you can act quickly to prevent pregnancy. Two kinds of emergency contraception are available:
Emergency Contraception Pill
Sometimes this is called the 'Morning After' pill. In fact it can be taken within 3 days (72 hours) of having sex, but try to take it as quickly as you can. Don't delay. Ask for help.
EC Coil
An IUD (a 'coil') can also be a form of EC if it is inserted up to 5 days after unprotected Sex.
WORRIED ABOUT BECOMING PREGNANT?
Emergency contraception (morning after pill) is FREE from the following pharmacies for all YOUNG WOMEN 15-19 years. The pill can be taken up to 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sex or contraception failure but the sooner the better!
