EATING DISORDERS

*
*

Bulimia and anorexia are eating disorders that can affect young men as well as young women. These are both disorders that affect the way that a person sees themselves and can make you think that you need to lose weight by taking drastic measures such as making yourself sick after eating, using laxatives or starving yourself altogether.

Anorexia and Bulemia are illnesses that can develop over time, a person may not even notice that your feelings and behaviour are changing and may even try to hide their behaviour from others.

If you think about what you are eating all the time, or if you feel you aren't in control of your eating, you can talk to your doctor.

If you are at school ask the nurse. If you don't want to see a doctor or nurse and want to talk to someone you can ring - Eating Disorders Association 01603 765 050 Monday - Friday 4.00-6.00pm specially for young people

It is important to get help around these feelings from people that understand issues like these and can provide the support that is needed at the right time.
