WHERE CAN I FIND A PA?

PAs are easy to find - in schools and college centres, local youth clubs, in Connexions Centres in your area and in the city centre, they'll even visit you at home.

In School Personal Advisers can help you:

  • Choose GCSE subject options and vocational courses in Year 9.
  • Make career and course choices in Years 10 & 11 and in Sixth Forms.
  • Building your self-confidence.
  • Apply to courses, jobs and work-based training opportunities.
  • With any personal issues such as health or money problems, which are affecting your study or progress.

In College Personal Advisers can offer continuing support with:

  • Employment, training and further/higher education choices.
  • Personal issues including health, accommodation and money problems.
  • Encouraging you to build on your strengths and realise your potential.

In Connexions Centres and the local community:

  • By working informally on a one-to-one basis.
  • Building your self-confidence.
  • Developing your skills through a wide range of activities.
  • By staying in touch to give the support you need, whatever your situation.
  • Helping with learning in informal settings.
  • Giving advice and encouragement on learning, training and work, or helping you find an alternative path.

In Confidence

  • Anything you talk to a Personal Adviser about will be confidential. This means that any information about you, or anything you have said will not be passed on to anyone without your permission. This includes parents or carers, teachers and other organisations. The only reason Connexions will pass on information without your permission is if there is a legal requirement or duty for Connexions to do this or if there is a risk of serious harm or threat to life.
